Care + Support
The Prayer Chain
The Prayer Chain is a group of individuals who have made a commitment to pray for the needs of the church. The concerns of this congregation, requests of members, friends, and family who may be ill (or wish prayers for any reason) are the focus of daily, individual prayers. All requests are kept in absolute confidence. If you have a prayer request, call the church office, 224-8693, and the Prayer Chain will be activated. If being a Prayer Chain member sounds like something you would like to be a part of, we would love to have you join us in this ministry
The Deacons Ministry
The ministry of Deacons as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress” (PCUSA Book of Order G-2.0201). Deacons are called by God and ordained to this “ministry of compassion” with these specific responsibilities.
All deacons are assigned a member of the church that is confined to nursing home, or homebound, and visits them once a month. Deacons show them the care and love of God through their visits, phone calls, and greeting cards. Every effort is made to keep them in touch with their church family.
Four Score and More Luncheon
Our congregation is blessed to have a large number of members who have reached the age of 80 or more years. The Deacons celebrate with them and welcome them to a luncheon as part of our church family. This is a wonderful way to honor our members who have shared in the rich history of our congregation for so many years.
The Deacons prepare memorial receptions for families and friends after memorial services for those who have passed away.
This ministry of the Deacons helps members of the congregation who need a ride to church services.
A Deacon assembles and delivers gift baskets to member families having newborn babies. We celebrate with them the gift of new life and the arrival of another child of God among us.
When we’re notified about temporary financial needs of individuals, our Deacons provide assistance according to preset guidelines.
